Embracing the Underdog

Q-Park China town London 18/2/18  Year of the Dog

Embracing the Underdog revisits a male alter ego first introduced in Tokyo Tales, delving into themes of identity, collapse, and survival amid the uncertainty of Brexit-era Britain.

The character, working in the financial sector, is consumed by paranoia over his uncertain future and the impact of Brexit. Increasing anxiety, fueled by excessive cocaine and alcohol use, clouds his thoughts and control.

Seeking relief from work stress and exhaustion after a long suburban commute, he parties nightly, hoping to break free from the monotony of his loveless home life. After a particularly grueling year, his excessive partying culminates in missing the last train home. Staggering and falling, he becomes part of the cardboard city community, unaware that his money and shoes have been taken as he lies unconscious.
