Fallen Souls

Fallen Souls is a series of mixed media works on paper, fabric, and canvas, combining drawing, painting, printing, collage, appliqué text, and stitching. The series explores intimate themes of vulnerability, fear, and exhaustion through layered processes and materials.

Formed through a performative process in which the body acts as a printing press, the works reveal intimate features such as skin texture, body shape, and traces of lipstick. The resulting graphite residue on the skin is documented photographically, capturing delicate details. These photographs form part of a larger series of limited edition prints on archival paper, to be initiated in 2018.

Graphite and silver pigment are painted around rectangular frames that reference building exteriors, while collaged wallpaper and sprayed layers of silver, black, and white acrylic through net curtains evoke the domestic realm. Drawn and stitched grids echo tiled flooring, forming architectural structures that suspend the falling figure—trapped, puppet-like, in motion. Fallen Souls, created on embroidered bedsheets from a local market in Estremoz, Portugal, depict body prints that drift between sleep and descent, inviting the viewer into a space of vulnerability, fear, and exhaustion.
